As a member of the European Economic Area (EEA), the EU telecommunication acquis is applied in Liechtenstein. The latest revision to the Communications Act was in 2020 and the country is undergoing its revisions to transpose the latest EU telecommunication directives (the "Code") in the area of electronic communications.
Moreover, important feedback has been provided to this report by the Office for Communications of Liechtenstein. The country profile was prepared as the background contribution to the ITU Regional Forum for Europe on 5G strategies, policies and implementation. All rights reserved.
After the successful roll-out of the fiber optic core network in Liechtenstein, Telecom Liechtenstein and Nokia have also signed the contract to expand their 5G network. Swisscom “Liechtenstein” is the largest mobile operator in Switzerland and also in Liechtenstein. Hence, it is also the largest mobile operator in Liechtenstein.
