Most common DC water pumps can work directly connected to a solar panel. However, their biggest issue is that they can get stuck. At dawn, the sunlight begins to change from weak to strong, and when the output voltage of the solar panel reaches the starting voltage, the pump will start to work.
Such a system is more suitable for domestic applications such as pumping of water using a DC motor water pump. As stated, such a system can be used for pumping of water especially in the application of irrigation. If we need water at night, then we can use the stored energy in the battery to pump the water during night time.
So, by utilizing the available solar energy right away during sunshine hours to pump the water we can eliminate the cost and space required for the battery and charge controller in this standalone application.
