Energy storage systems not only mitigate the intermittency and volatility of renewable energy generation but also supply power support during peak demand periods, thereby improving grid stability and reliability.
In off-grid applications, ES can be used to balance the generation and consumption, to prevent frequency and voltage deviations. Due to the widespread use of battery energy storage (BES), the paper further presents various battery models, for power system economic analysis, reliability evaluation, and dynamic studies.
Innovative energy storage and grid modernization (GM) approaches, such as nano-grids with SESUS, provide unprecedented scalability, reliability, and efficacy in power management for urban demands.
These efforts aim to achieve a balanced, reliable, and environmentally friendly energy supply. This paper also discusses the capacity allocation of energy storage systems in off-grid microgrids, by constructing an energy storage capacity-setting model and verifying the validity of the model through example analysis.
