Overall, the heterogeneity analysis results demonstrate that the impact of green trade barriers on the export trade volume of Chinese photovoltaic products varies significantly depending on exchange rate levels and language environments.
According to the results in the first two columns in Table 2, compared with the trade situation between China and economies that have not initiated ACPs, the trade barriers between China and Europe and the USA has had a significant negative impact on Chinese exports of PV cells and modules.
In contrast, China insisted on breaking through trade barriers with technological innovation. This starkly contrasting choice of paths ultimately prompted the Chinese PV industry to successfully respond to severe external challenges, demonstrating strong resilience in industrial development.
Concerning the impact of AD and CV, a majority of empirical research focuses on the trade network, benefits of firms, and policy efficiency (Jia et al., 2016; Meckling and Hughes, 2017), while a limited study pays attention to the influence of trade barriers on the PV export pattern inside China.
Zhu et al. (2021) examined the impact of both internal and external forces on China’s solar PV export during 2007–2016, and found that trade protectionism and some non-tariff barriers inhibit China’s PV exports.
